Wine Country Weekend

Last weekend one of my colleagues at UNHCR, Alex, invited a group of the interns to do some wine tasting in the Lavaux. Alex is from the town of Lutry, which you may remember is where we went to the harvest festival about a month ago. Lutry is one of several wine villages in what makes up the Lavaux wine region, about a half an hour from Geneva along the lake. The vineyards are terraced along the hills sloping down into Lake Geneva, and they are spectacular. So much so that they are a UNESCO world heritage site.

We walked through the vineyards and tiny towns, stopping in one, Espress, to sample some of the wine produced there. Back at Alex's we drank the wine we purchased in Espress and ate more fondue than I care to admit (I love that melted cheese and bread is accepted as dinner here?). All in all an incredible day.

See some more photos of our day in the Lavaux!
